Melissa & Doug

Melissa & Doug was in need of a consistent brand and visual strategy to roll out across their global touch points online, in print, and on-shelf. Guidelines were rooted in childhood imagination and inspired by colors and shapes of classic wooden toys. Real shapes from actual developmental toys – circles, hexagons, stars, triangles – add life to simple blocks of bold, bright color. Light touches of illustration and emphasis marks are used to bring movement and energy to text. The use of a warm wood grain as a texture is a nod to Melissa & Doug's wooden puzzle roots and the craftsmanship that goes into all their products. Photography always feature children engaging with their toys in a fun and imaginative way.

Impact –
I formed the first Brand Marketing Creative team and introduced creative briefing and project management process. Additionally, I was a member of the DTC e-commerce relaunch team. Post-launch, average order value rose 14.3% and traffic increased 17.5%.

During my time at M&D, we rolled out a “play partner” retailer program in specialty stores that included experiential events for kids, point-of-sale kits, window signage, and dedicated promotions to increase foot traffic and move product. This led to 10% growth in participating stores.
