I formed The Design Team @ Some Spider Studios to unite our full-service, 15-person, multi-disciplinary creative org with a branded identity and shared sense of purpose. In addition to establishing team guiding principles, we rolled out toolkits, templates, and a website showcasing team work.

I also implemented internal “stretch projects” called the SSSide Hustle (get it? the Some Spider Side Hustle? Is this thing on?). The goal of all of these initiatives was to foster team excellence and encourage individual growth.

Below are our guiding principles.

Who We Are

A multidisciplinary team of subject matter experts, with diverse backgrounds, interests, and abilities.

A design team with big reach. We collaborate cross-functionally and company-wide to impact how our brands are represented.

We’re proud. We care about every project, no matter the size. We take collective responsibility for the output of our team.

What We Do

Make decisions based on thinking, not titles. Every team member has the opportunity to propose ideas and all are valued equally.

Think big. And we see the big picture. We understand that our work plays an important role in the strategy, goals, and success of our business.

We like to be generous with our knowledge. We recognize we each have something to teach and be taught. We pitch in to help others get answers and are open to feedback and suggestions. We’re not afraid to share our point of view.

We dig deep to truly understand the business partners we work with, the users we serve, and the problems we’re solving.

We’re on a quest for continual improvement – we measure, learn, reflect, and improve. We don’t take things personally.
